no regrets

We took this video a year and a half ago when I came to visit Mike after we got engaged.

I told my mum that we were posting it on our anniversary.

"Ah, is it a mushy one?"

"Um ... it depends on what you mean by mushy."

"Lovey dovey?"

"Nup, not that kind of mushy."

By the grace of God, we have enjoyed a great first year of marriage.

This week DJP from Biblical Christianity asked me on Facebook chat if I'd recanted from any of my "extremist" statements from this famous post.

Honestly?

Nope. After a year of being married to Michael Jolly, I neither recant nor regret anything.

I still believe that one of the greatest ways of showing Michael that I love him is to show him respect.

Married for one year! What a surprise it was for us to find out that we're pregnant this past Wednesday! He will be great dad come March. I hope our child has a great sense of humor and isn't overly embarrassed by my silliness.

So as an old married woman (just had our 5 year anniversary!) I whole-heartedly agree that showing your husband respect is a super-high priority. Had I fully understood this before I got married, I would have saved myself and my husband alot of grief. After 5 amazing years we're finally beginning to uncover that many of our disagreements stem from him not feeling that I respect him, and me not knowing that respect is so important to him. Respect is key!

PS Congrats on your pregnancy!

Christine, congratulations on your little one! That is great news, & I'm very happy for you! Amazing how quickly everything begins moving once your married, isn't it? I wish you a happy & healthy pregnancy. Thanks for your encouraging comment & advice, by the way. If I get any readers, I'll try to keep them interested! :D Also, I did finally get to listen to your talk at the ladies' conference, & I thought you did an excellent job. C.J. would be proud (if he weren't so dedicated to humility, that is). :)

Was it a mushy one or a dry one?

Blessings to you and Mike.

And thanks for the encouraging blog. Thank you particularly for being an encouragement for courageous, complementarian, gifted women who are not afraid to be devoted to their husbands biblically. We need more voices like yours in the wilderness of Masculinism (aka, the misnomer "feminism").
